Google takes on Microsoft with launch of Chrome internet browser

Check the new browser which Google has in Beta phase now:

Google Chrome

Google is launching a new web browser today that will challenge Internet Explorer and Firefox.

The software, called Google Chrome, is designed to handle video-rich or other complex web programs more quickly than traditional browsers, which were first designed to handle text and graphics.

A beta version will be available to Windows users in 100 countries from today and the internet search leader said it was working on versions for Apple and Linux users.

The launch of Chrome coincides with the recent introduction by arch-rival Microsoft of its Internet Explorer 8 last month.

Internet Explorer holds roughly three-quarters of the browser market, followed by Mozilla’s Firefox and Apple’s Safari browsers.

Google said its engineers have borrowed from a variety of other open-source projects, including Apple’s WebKit and the Mozilla Firefox open-source browser.

They plan to make all of Chrome software code open to other developers to enhance and expand.

‘We realized that the web had evolved from mainly simple text pages to rich, interactive applications and that we needed to completely rethink the browser,’ said Google’s Product Manager Sindar Pichai and Engineering Director Linus Upson on a blog post.

They said Google Chrome promises to load pages faster and more securely, but also includes a new engine for loading interactive JavaScript code, dubbed V8, that is designed to run the next generation of not-yet-invented applications.

Chrome organizes information into tabbed pages. Web programs can be launched in their own dedicated windows.

It also offers a variety of features to make the browser more stable and secure, according to a comic book guide that was released by accident to a blogger.

Among Chrome’s features is a special privacy mode that lets users create an ‘incognito’ window where ‘nothing that occurs in that window is ever logged on your computer.’

Mozilla recently introduced its own upgraded browser, Firefox 3, and has collaborated with Google on a variety of technical issues, including a system for reporting software crashes and to make software browsers more secure.

John Lilly, Chief Executive of Mozilla said in a blog post that they would continue to collaborate with Google where it made sense for both organizations, but would also focus on keeping the web open by fostering its own community-developed browser.

Nikki Sixx rockin with the 36 Chambers!

Nikki Sixx & GZA from Wu Tang Clan

Right…to begin this lesson im gonna have to give you the definition of a hustler. Now remember im not talkin about the street whore thug groupie hustler…playa please!

Hustler - pimp, playa, gangsta, baller and shot caller.

A hustler is someone who is forced to use their brain to make it in this world. They outsmart the smartest, know how to get connections/money and are skilled at doing so. To top it all off, my girl Sixx has fun while hustlin!

So Nikki tells me that shes chillin, drinkin smoothies with GZA from the Wu Tang Clan after his Portland show, up in the tour bus!

Taking this excerpt from her blog, heres 5 things she learned from GZA:

1. How to play chess. First, Gza tells me that chess is a great natural high. He does not like when people play “cubby” moves aka cubs scout moves that are super basic. His cousin taught him a few years ago and Gza loves to play on the tour bus. He will take any challengers and he never gives up.

2. That washing your hands after using the bathroom is very important. He tells me that this is where he starts judging people. Gza said that he knows girls are trashy if they don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom. Keep it fresh yo!

3. How to make a fresh late night smoothie while on a tour bus. Preparation is key. He cuts up fresh fruit, freezes it and then busts it into the blender with a little water. The smoothie he made had pineapple, banana, strawberries and a few fresh blueberries. I was impressed that after a show he just busted one out. Yum Yum!

4. How to have to softest skin in the world. Touch him, you will understand. He told me that once he met a little kid and the kid called him out for having super soft hands. His nails are really nice as well, he says it is all the good food he eats. I believe it after the late night healthy smoothie.

5. Time to stop smoking. As we rolled down the smoke filled halls of the hotel, he told me that he doesn’t smoke anymore. Gza is 42 now and feels like that it is in his past. He has better things to do now…time to evolve in a different way.

The Media Contender !

Media Contender - Heavyweight Business

I am a true believer of giving credit where credit is due! My west coast family over at MediaContender have been making waves in both the west coast and global music scenes, and by having checked out the back end stats over this weekend i gotta say GOOD JOB TO THE WHOLE TEAM! In all instances, bandwidth, direct traffic, organic search and referral site recommendations…the site is getting stronger and stronger with more and more traffic daily.

Spearheaded by Danny Johnson, with collaborative involvement from Jeff Tovar (Phear, Sucio, Statika Design) handling all design aspects and myself, mainly dealing with back end technical issues and aiding Danny with high level cross collaboration…our mission is to spread the word about the things we love…and hopefully you love!

We are the underdogs, you will find us on the streets representing producers, dj’s, graphic designers, photographers, graffiti artists, and people that pursue the things they love.

I am really excited to be back in Los Angeles working even closer to Danny and the team! Expect some exclusives from the likes of Rusko, Goldielocks, Loxy, Oneman & MC Asbo, Deapoh from Barefiles, Macabre Unit, Unorthadox plus a few more once i get back into LA!

NikeID - London

NikeID London

My boy Matty just got a job at NikeTown on Oxford Street @ the NIKEiD studio. With only four studios worldwide - in London, Paris, New York and Osaka - these studios are set to offer a rare experience, where we, the customer, get to design our own exclusive trainers in whatever colours and fabrics we like.

In front of you are five styles of trainers that Nike consider to be London icons:

1. Dunk High, from 1985, inspired by Michael Jordan
2. Dunk Low, inspired by Japanese street culture
3. Airmax 90, the second Airmax trainer
4. Airmax Classic, from the first Airmax boom in 1991
5. Airforce 25, a legacy shoe celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Any customer can get Dunk High, Dunk Low and Airmax 90, but the Airmax Classic and Airforce 25s are exclusive to upstairs, as are various colour, fabric and detail choices. I went for Dunk Highs. Design your own on the website.
