BBC 1Xtra Announces XtraBass 07
XtraBass has cemented 1Xtra’s strong reputation and allegiance with one of the UK’s most thriving music scenes. This year the station adds a new element to the week, as it celebrates some of the biggest names in the industry with the first XtraBass Awards. Across the week the station will broadcast 16 hours of live Drum & Bass on 1Xtra, touching down in seven cities across seven days with some of the biggest and freshest D&B talent in the UK.XtraBass 07 launches in Oxford, as 1Xtra’s entire Drum & Bass DJ roster (L Double, Flight, Bailey and new signing, Crissy Criss) take to the decks alongside Oxford veterans Total Science. Joining 1Xtra’s Drum & Bass crew throughout the week will be some of the best names from the D&B scene such as Fabio, Grooverider, Logistics, Alix Perez, Randall, Lemon D & Dillinja, and Friction.The week promises some very special highlights, including a jungle special from Sheffield where L Double will be joined by 1Xtra’s Dancehall king Robbo Ranx alongside old skool legends Top Cat and Tenor Fly. XtraBass will also be taking over the Radio 1 airwaves as Bailey and Grooverider broadcast live to 1Xtra and Radio 1 fans from Glasgow. And for the first time XtraBass touches down in Swansea, as Bailey is joined by Friction plus MC SP and Rage.
Another first for 1Xtra will be the inaugural XtraBass Awards, which will be broadcast live from a secret location in London. Listeners will be able to vote online for their favourites in a variety of categories, and will be able to register for a chance to attend the event, via the XtraBass mini-site dedicated to which launches mid-February: bbc.co.uk/1xtra/xb07.

THE LAB / BOXED SESSIONS Update
A few hickups with both Boxed Sessions events in Rotterdam and Ghent Belgium, but that wont stop us from throwing a WICKED party!
In Rotterdam Nighttown ended up going bankrupt and eventually supplied us with a new venue called B.U.M.B.
Bumb is an underground bunker that throws raves and club-nights about 5 minutes walk from Nighttown in Rotterdam.
The second installation of the Boxed Sessions / The Lab weekender takes place in Ghent, Belgium! We have locked down a super nice venue there with an indoor swiming pool and lounge area. Bumpin soundsystem, chill environment & filled goodie bags!
Keep your eyes peeled for future The Lab / Boxed Sessions events in early 2007!

It started with a break…!
A.W.O.L. – A Way of Life, where the first A.W.O.L. events came way back in early ’92. A time when the cavernous bass lows and trance-inducing frantic breakbeat drums within Jungle were rapidly signing up thousands of recruits toward its UK born and bred ‘way of life’.
A night at A.W.O.L. was and still is like a trip into another dimension. The volatile combination of highly hypnotic drums, Jungle’s latest hot dubplates, the serious ‘dig your heels in’ ravers, smoke machines and the mood adjusted lights, helps the attendees drift into themselves.
Following on from their road block appearance back in February at Ministry of Sound, AWOL returns to the cavernous space they fill so well, brining with them the original heavyweight AWOL line-up with Randall, Dr S Gachet, Mickey Finn, Kenny Ken & Darren Jay taking to the main room to deliver 7 hours of killer beats and rolling basslines. MCs hyping up the crowd will be GQ & Fearless. Leaders of the new skool – Zinc, D-Bridge & Q Project, Bryan Gee, and Darrison will host the Bar dropping the finest D&B selection.
One party NOT to be missed!
