BBC 1Xtra Announces XtraBass 07

bbc-1xtra_160.gifXtraBass has cemented 1Xtra’s strong reputation and allegiance with one of the UK’s most thriving music scenes. This year the station adds a new element to the week, as it celebrates some of the biggest names in the industry with the first XtraBass Awards. Across the week the station will broadcast 16 hours of live Drum & Bass on 1Xtra, touching down in seven cities across seven days with some of the biggest and freshest D&B talent in the UK.XtraBass 07 launches in Oxford, as 1Xtra’s entire Drum & Bass DJ roster (L Double, Flight, Bailey and new signing, Crissy Criss) take to the decks alongside Oxford veterans Total Science. Joining 1Xtra’s Drum & Bass crew throughout the week will be some of the best names from the D&B scene such as Fabio, Grooverider, Logistics, Alix Perez, Randall, Lemon D & Dillinja, and Friction.The week promises some very special highlights, including a jungle special from Sheffield where L Double will be joined by 1Xtra’s Dancehall king Robbo Ranx alongside old skool legends Top Cat and Tenor Fly. XtraBass will also be taking over the Radio 1 airwaves as Bailey and Grooverider broadcast live to 1Xtra and Radio 1 fans from Glasgow. And for the first time XtraBass touches down in Swansea, as Bailey is joined by Friction plus MC SP and Rage.

Another first for 1Xtra will be the inaugural XtraBass Awards, which will be broadcast live from a secret location in London. Listeners will be able to vote online for their favourites in a variety of categories, and will be able to register for a chance to attend the event, via the XtraBass mini-site dedicated to which launches mid-February: bbc.co.uk/1xtra/xb07.
